Th e cement industry is undergoing a transformation to optimise resource use and strengthen its contribution to environmental sustainability. In this context, waste co-processing has become an efficient alternative for integrating circular economy principles into the production process, enabling the recovery of materials that would otherwise face complex disposal challenges. International organisations such as the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) and the Inter-American Cement Federation (FICEM) recognise co-processing as a strategic tool for advancing resource circularity and promoting more sustainable production models. This technology enables certain waste materials to be incorporated as alternative inputs in cement kilns while ensuring high standards of performance, clinker quality and operational safety.
